Skin

For a project at university we were given the chance to produce anything that we wanted.  Earlier on in the year i had visited a number of exhibitions in Berlin, including, Robert Mapplethorpe and Helmut Newton.  I wanted to explore the nude & the body in particular.  I chose to look at body in a physical sense, exploring the skin.  These photos were shot on a Canon 6D.

Update

Hiya guys,

Sorry i haven't uploaded much for a while, quite a lot of my work uses film so its quite a process scanning the images in.  Very busy with university deadlines at the moment but as soon as these projects are handed in i will crack on with updating here :)

Current projects for university are-

  • Self Directed (here we can do whatever we choose)- I'm looking into close up parts of the body, focusing on different types of skin.  Digital b&w project.
  • Cultures of nature-  Here i am using my bronica medium format camera to capture the female nude within the landscape.  I want to show the relationship between the human body and the natural world so it will be like the model is part of the elements.  This will be in b&w
Personal projects-

  • Really want to try out my first film (moving image), kinda like a dazed & confused short film.  Its spring.. so i want to incorporate this in with my work.  My sister will also act as my model!
Catch up with you all soon :) x

LFW

These images are what i took when i went to the last day of London Fashion Week.
I wasn't really sure what to expect, but i found it so amazing!  My heart was thumping as i was getting so excited!!  So many beautiful people, beautiful clothes and a wonderful atmosphere.
I unfortunately didn't have a invitation/pass to get inside the shows but i stayed in the court yard at Somerset House.  Definitley going to go back next year and hopefully actually go into the shows.

The City....
Recently i went to Berlin & Paris to document the city for a university project.
In my work i decided to try to capture the people of the city, and as i love street fashion, chose to focus on this.  I basically went around with my camera snapping at people i found interesting. Saw these women standing outside the Louvre in Paris.  Was instantly drawn to the girl on the left's style, and just had to take a picture!
The City....
Another photograph taken from my university project of the city.  This image is from Berlin.
A very quick snapshot as i turned around and spotted this man with an amazing coat!
The City....A Henri Cartier-Bresson moment.
I followed this woman for a while, fascinated by her beautiful appearance, yet i just couldn't get the right shot.  Finally a quick snap as she walked across the road, i captured what i wanted.
This image is taken from a photomontage project that i was set whilst at university.
Photomontage means that this image is not my own photograph, and neither is the text.  We were asked to take images we found to create our own image.
In this project i looked into how most brands use young 'perfect' models to advertise their products.
I found this photograph from a series called 'Wise Women' by Joyce Tenneson, who wanted to celebrate the 'older' woman.  Combining these with quotes i also found on the internet, i made them look as though they were adversisements, to show that you don't have to look young to be beautiful.

Queen of the Fairies.
This photograph is from a project that i did at university.  We were asked to depict any kind of fiction that we wanted to.  I chose to loosely base mine on 'A Midsummer's night dream' by Shakespeare.  Here you can see my interpretation of Queen Titania.
I used colour film to capture this image, and set up was in a studio.
This image is also from my art foundation course where i looked at the subject of people in nature.
The model is my younger sister, Emily.  I chose to work with Emily as i felt i needed a model that i could have that personal connection with.  In this photograph i wanted the atmosphere to be silent, personal, and for you to feel a strong connection with her.  I used black & white film to capture this moment.
This is an image i took on my art foundation course at UCA Maidstone.
Here i was looking at the use of light, and i was very interested in lighting within nature.
This image was taken using black & white film.
